With over 3,000 events, including unique events for every genre of game; and over 300 exhibitors selling everything for your game-playing needs; Origins has something for you. Origins Dates: 2005: June 30-July3 2006: June 29-July2 2007: July 5-8 2008: June 26-29 2009: June 25-28 2010: June 24-27 Game-Play: 24 Hours-a-day from 6 p.m. Wednesday to 8 p.m. Sunday (Most events are between 8 a.m. and midnight) Registration: Wednesday 4 p.m. - 10 p.m. Registration Booths Open (Register online now for the best price) Thursday - Saturday 7 a.m. - 10 p.m. Registration Booths Open Sunday 7 a.m. - 4 p.m. Registration Booths Open GAMA/Origins Affiliated Club/Organization Program 2005 GAMA, the Game Manufacturer's Association, owner and operator of the Origins International Game Expo, is pleased to announce its revised Affiliated Clubs and Organizations Program for 2005. After receiving extensive feedback from participating clubs in 2004, we have streamlined and simplified the program. Qualifying for benefits is easier and - because the tier structure has been eliminated - benefits are more generous. Our goal for this program is still to enhance GAMA's commitment to the dedicated groups of gamers who make our show, Origins, the premiere gaming convention in North America. By strengthening ties with these groups, GAMA hopes to provide more opportunities for the gaming community to have a greater voice in the development of Origins and the hobby generally. By providing a number of hours of service to Origins, by running events and volunteering, Clubs and Organizations attain status as non-voting GAMA members. GAMA membership alone conveys certain benefits, including: listing in the GAMA Membership Directory; access to whatever Industry information GAMA makes available; the right to attend the GAMA Trade Show [although we limit the number of representatives from each organization who may attend]; participation in members-only forums; and others. More information about GAMA benefits is available at www.gama.org Please note that the GAMA Board of Directors has agreed to waive the GAMA Membership Fee for Clubs & Organizations that meet our criteria. Program Benefits Complimentary Origins four-day badges for qualifying[1] GMs; 50 percent off four-day admission for all other club members Complimentary Accommodations[2] based on Club's aggregated service hours A Dedicated Club & Orgs Registration Line to reduce already low wait times Priority Scheduling and Prize Support for Club events Club Ribbon - each club's members will receive a special ribbon denoting that they are an "Origins-Affiliated Club Member," and the names of their club will appear on their badges Listing in the Club & Org pages of the Pre-Registration and On-Site Programs, as well as the Origins and GAMA Web Sites, with links to the Club's Web Site Free Advertising - one-sixth page ads in our Pre-Registration and On-Site Programs Clubs-Only Reception with our Gaming Guests of Honor 20 percent Discount on Origins Merchandise Dedicated Liaison between GAMA/Origins, Clubs and Orgs, and Manufacturers One Free Admission to the GAMA Trade Show in March for a designated Club Coordinator (2 Free Admissions if Club musters 20+ members to Origins) Program Requirements Must bring at least eight pre-registered members to Origins. Must complete a minimum of 128 hours of service to Origins, in any combination of Event Hours and Volunteer Hours, except that the minimum number of Volunteer Hours per Club must equal two hours for every attending member. Mandatory Volunteer hours may be distributed among as many or as few members as the Club prefers. The Event component of the 128 service hours must be submitted by the Early Bird registration deadline, January 10. Additional events may be submitted later, however events submitted after the Early Bird deadline will count toward complimentary badges but not toward complimentary accommodations Final attending member list must be submitted by the Pre-Registration deadline, May 25 Attending Club members whose badges are not complimentary must pre-register by May 25 This program presents considerable benefits that, in their totality, are unique on the convention circuit. Because the benefits are substantial, each organization's participation at Origins will be evaluated annually to determine whether or not it merits continued benefits in the following year. Also, given the cost of complimentary accommodations and badges, organizations that do not have a pre-existing relationship with the show may have to seek reimbursement of these costs at the close of the show following verification of the required service hours. Origins Admin will examine performance every year to determine which organizations receive their comp badges and accommodations without pre-payment. This program is designed to aid organized and dedicated groups of gamers who wish to make greater contributions to Origins and to the hobby generally. Before granting full benefits under this program, Origins Admin may require proof that the candidate organization is genuine. Such proof might include referral from other conventions or from hobby retailers or manufacturers, a Web site maintained by the organization, a demonstrated history of running events, etc. Lastly, manufacturer-sponsored demo teams are not eligible for benefits under this program. Instead, they receive benefits from the sponsoring manufacturer, out of the pool of benefits the manufacturer receives from Origins for running its events. These benefits may include complimentary badges and accommodations. Clubs that run a combination of sponsored and non-sponsored events will receive credit under this program for the non-sponsored events only. GAMA welcomes your participation and hopes you will join with us to expand Origins and the game-playing community.
